Double Down Saloon   

This dive bar has two mottos that sum up its essence better than any third-party copy. The first is "Home of the Fabled Ass Juice." That drink is one of the shining stars at the original Double Down Saloon, a grungy Las Vegas bar that was obviously born to open an outpost in the East Village. The punk-goth charm is reminiscent of Alphabet City circa the 1980s, when pizza deliverymen wouldn't go past Avenue A, and the decor may be described as cesspool chic. The walls of the dark former Julep space are adorned with low-rent art depicting skulls and dice. Aside from young downtowners playing drinking games with other people's Double Down Lager and lamenting the death of CBGB's, entertainment comes in the form of a Ramones- and My Bloody Valentine-infested jukebox. Another signature drink is the Bacon Martini, whose ingredients are reportedly under investigation by the FDA. If you're still unsure whether it's appropriate for Mom and Dad, heed its second motto: "You Puke, You Clean."
