Down that delicious shopping strip that is East 9th Street wait Elizabeth Ryan's twin shops in a narrow residential building: one for flowers, the other for gifts. Unusual blooms appear each day, like apricot parrot tulips and roses many a botanist couldn't name. A master at coaxing flowers into full, naturalistic English garden arrangements, Ryan likes to include such unconventional touches as flowering herbs, moss, horsetail or African berries.Ryan is known for fruit and flower arrangements at weddings -- one had centerpieces of roses, sweet peas and strawberries -- and designs events of all sizes, from lighting to tablecloths to flowers. Most containers are reusable, including her trademark terra-cotta vases, bright '60s retro vases that look like juice glasses, graceful Japanese teacups and votive candleholders. Celebrities, take note: Ryan is too discreet to divulge clients' names. For the rest of us, her minimum is a low $40 plus $10 delivery, bringing her work within the range of every walk-up-studio dweller.
