International Garden, in the heart of Chelsea's Flower District, may cater to the wholesale market, but you can wander in and pick up the perfect bouquet as well. Roses for your sweetie? Tulips for a friend who's blue? Daisies for the perfect host? The hardworking staff does its best to accommodate special requests. And if you're looking for something of the potted variety, you can choose from all sorts of greenery and flora -- from a $3 cactus to a $10 potted flowering plant, a $25 hanging plant to a $60 giant fern and up. In good weather, the plants soak up the sun on the sidewalk out front, but you'll want to pop in just the same, if only to admire the shops nifty old tile walls.
