Established in 1978, Japonica has become a very well known and popular local landmark. Frequently mentioned in the New York press as being "the place to go" for Japanese cuisine, New Yorkers will tell you that the "best sushi in town" is to be found at Japonica. The authentic Japanese decor, knowledgeable staff and artistically presented menu items highlight all that is good about this Village institution. Reservations: Single or double, first come, first served. Normally no same day reservations. For 3 or more, please call or use this service to advise us of the time of your arrival.

I love Japonica
Japonica is a cut above the rest. The sushi is excellent, fresh, clean, tasty--delicious. The atmosphere is very enjoyable, and very authentic. There are many sushi places in the city, but the atmosphere at Japonica is the best. The waiters are very precise and friendly. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for somewhere to enjoy good, fresh sushi.
