Rate and Write a Review An intimate little tribute to Louis Armstrong, Louis invokes the style of the era with a subtly modern and artful approach, courtesy of the owner (a carpenter and furniture maker). Visible filament bulbs cast an amber glow over the brick and blonde wood, and the music is strictly old-school jazz, both from the Satchmo-heavy sound system and the small groups that play here five nights a week. The beer-and-wine selection skews the crowd toward the mature, although the quiet location just off Avenue C also makes it popular with couples and small groups of friends. Pressed sandwiches and other noshes are available, and the new adjacent gallery space showcases local artists.
