If you are one of the lucky few with tickets to the latest Broadway blockbuster, you're undoubtedly simultaneously excited and unnerved -- excited for possessing the most sought-after seats on Broadway, unnerved for shelling out so much cash that affordable accommodations seem impossible to find. That's where The Milford Plaza comes to the rescue to make your hotel choice easier. This nondescript 1928 building has been a hotel since 1980, and rooms for $129 a night can be easily had without sacrificing life or limb. Yet even though there's good eats at the Celebrity Deli and a gracious staff, everything seems to be in need of a renovation. Though the hotel offers basic amenities like laundry and dry cleaning, a close inspection of the facilities reveals worn but clean carpeting, dusty walls and lumpy bedding. A spruce-up would help: mothballing the fluorescent lighting, installing newer TVs or promoting the on-site beauty salon. Even with these drawbacks, the Milford Plaza does remain a good deal for the prime Broadway location. -- Leonard Jacobs

I stayed there in July 2002. The rooms are small but have been remodeled and were very clean. The hotel staff was very pleasant and informing. You could walk to most places, close to alot of main things in New York. Had a great time.
