Atrociously Rude Service
By annashafir on 09/26/2007
Although the food is mediocre at best and the service had always been slow and spotty, I used to like this restaurant for its festive ambiance and music on Friday nights. The last few times we were there though, we waited for an awfully long time for our food and often it wasn't very good. The last time (and final time) we were there though the service was shockingly awful. The waitress was rude from the outset for no reason. I ordered a smoked salmon and caviar dish without the smoked salmon but only caviar (as I can't eat smoked foods). When the waitress brought us the dish with the salmon included, and I asked her to please bring what I ordered (just caviar), she responded by asking very rudely if I know how to read english -- as the menu says "salmon and caviar." I was so shocked that we called Yasha, the manager, who started screaming that all we need to do is pick the caviar off ourselves from around the smoked fish (when I am allergic to smoked products). This is beyond lack of service; it is downright unacceptable and horrible. Russian Samovar is a place you should go to only if you want to experience mediocre food with horrifyingly rude Soviet style service.
