Screaming Mimis flashy window dictates how vintage clothing can be morphed into contemporary fashion runway styling, and the ever-changing, freshly coiffed, outrageous window is hard to overlookit reflects the crazy downtown chic that is all-too-quickly fading away. Inside, the store is bursting with color and the vintage clothing options rank in the hundreds. Mimis has got great shoes -- they're a bit pricey (from $65-$150) but the selection is abundant. Youll also see racks of mens shirts ($20-$65), denim jackets from $60-$250, belt buckles, mens and womens new sunglasses modeled on 60s & 70s eyewear styles for $24, slews of handbags, mens suits ($150-$235), and sailor pants and pea coats, which are always on sale. Shiny lurex tops (perfect for clubbing) go for $30 as do the A-line skirts; 70s dresses, $60; silk ties, $25; hippie skirts $45-$55; vintage cords $35-$55. If youre goin to the carwash, pick up a gas station attendant jumpsuit for $60. Or, if you choose to stay pretty in pink, a lipstick umbrella ($18) could be just your thing. -- Ali Morra
