For a decade owner and chef Gari Sugio has run a sushi restaurant that is innovative in the way it serves sushi with both cold and warm ingredients, offering more than 130 varieties. Sushi of Gari 46 focuses primarily on serving Gari?s ?Signature Omakase? Sushi dinner which shows off his expertise with marinated and spiced raw and slightly cooked ingredients, in addition to a menu of traditional Japanese dishes. The sake selection, by Gari Sugio, is one of the best in town along with a limited wine selection of fine wines.

This is a wonderful choice for pre-theater dining. Appetizer presentation is unique and plentiful. The service is friendly and helpful. A warm environment with terrific, moderately priced food - a must try when you are visiting New York!

Excellent and Inexpensive
By jcarterwc on 02/12/2004
You get tons of food here. A rack of assorted sausages, a pot of pate, a large basket of fresh fruit and vegetables, and rolls and butter. And this is before the meal! Then you get your main course with vegetable - I like the roast duck with cherry sauce, rice pilaf and steamed vegetables. Then a dessert; creme brulee, fruit crepe, chocolate mousse, all good. If you're lucky, they'll give you a free after-dinner cordial of peach schnapps - a fragrant treat! All this for, the last time I was there, $21 plus tax and tip. Friendly and good service too. I can't wait to go back again (I live near Philadelphia).
