Revered restaurateur Stephen Hanson created a big fish to fry with this seafood sensation, the ideal complement to his other nautical New York endeavors Blue Water Grill and Atlantic Grill. Situated in the stylish W Hotel in Times Square, Blue Fin boasts a striking Yabu Pushelberg design concept: White wave walls and shiny mirrors crash into the coast of the central spiral staircase, which separates the two levels of the 400-seat space like a red carpet running from limos to Oscar night. Each floor has its own glamorous bar -- usually occupied by glamorous people with raging BlackBerry addictions during happy hour -- and numerous cool, beige-floored mahogany-paneled dining areas. Chef Paul Sale keeps everyone onboard with an exotic sushi menu, a real raw bar and trawls of fish, including big eye tuna, black crusted halibut and oven-roasted Chilean sea bass. In case you need more entertainment, there's also red-eye early breakfast, live piano jazz and a window overlooking Times Square in all its revived glory. -- Yon Motskin

nothing special
By jerseyhannna on 08/09/2008
I just had pre theater lunch with friends in the restaurant 8/6/08. We ordered the schrimp salad $16. baby greens , some little pieces of crab meat, i had to look for it, 4 fresh shrimps on top of salad. very good dressing ,citrus some cut up palm pieces. i was looking for a few more schrimps but alas no mooore. we had very nice fresh rolls with butter and big home made thin flat breads or crackers sprinkled with seeds. Our waitress was very attentive and so was the gentleman who oversaw the restaurants flow of guests. the ambiance was ok, very nicely decorated with very modern and clean only one bathroom serving both sexes, but very clean and modern. My friend goes there often when going to the theater. they like to have martinis and price is no object. Its pricey and you are paying for ambience.

OK food LOUSY service
By ericjmedici on 03/17/2005
The food was ok... lobster sandwich was a little tough, everything had more than enough salt--couldn't eat the chips or fries. The service was lousy... waiter never checked on us and the drinks were flat and warm.
