They have a hand roll of lobster topped with caviar, and that should tell you all you need to know about Blue Ribbon Sushi. No longer do Brooklynites have to cross the river to drop an easy $100 on decadent fatty tuna and raw delicacies, yet those who order wisely can fill up on sashimi here for about $20 a person. The Brooklyn outpost has gentler prices than its Soho cousin, at no detriment to freshness and quality, and the staff is given to random generosity. ("But we didn't order the shrimp." "No, it's a gift from the chef.") If the blonde wood and dojo decor don't exactly fit in Park Slope, the sushi competes with the Slope's other serious raw-fish venues, Tamari and Yamato. Blessed with the franchise name and located directly next door to the unrelentingly popular Blue Ribbon Brooklyn, Blue Ribbon Sushi Brooklyn is crowded and convivial. Daily and seasonal specials augment the menu and all tables have a good view of the sushi chefs busily fanning fish slices on wooden trays. -- Erin Franzman

Where is the Rock Shrimp?
By montaukmania on 03/04/2007
One of our favorite dishes and draw to the restaurant was the Rock Shrimp appetizer and they have done away with that for some time now. Whas up with that!!!!!!!!! Also, I have eaten there at least 20 times in excess of $250.00 for many a single check, and never have gotten anything complimentary, even with my 20% tipping policy. The cold lobster with miso sauce in DEEE - LICIOUS. ONE THING BLUE RIBBON, REMEMBER HUMILITY AND GIVE US SOMETHING ON THE HOUSE ONCE IN A WHILE, ALL OF US.

The Sushi at blue ribbon is good. A world away from the all you can eat Chinese run "usual" Brooklyn Sushi places. No sea legs here and real crab is the order… However, it is very expensive and I often wonder if the sushi is actually that good. I don't mind paying top dollar but I want the sushi to ROCK my world when I do.

I took my wife there for our anniversary and the staff treated us like regulars even though it was our first time there. The food was great, a double decker shellfish combo and finished it off with the black angus steak for two. Memorable dinner.
