Grimaldi's is at the center of a dispute among New York pizza lovers. It is either the sine qua non of thin-crust, coal-oven pizza, or just one name in a pantheon that includes Lombardi's, Totonno's and a few other places. Honestly, who cares? Grimaldi's is great; if you don't like it, then you don't like pizza. It's certainly worth queuing up in a line that on summer nights can snake 100 feet or more up Old Fulton Street. The ferry landing, the Brooklyn Ice Cream Works and the Manhattan skyline are an easy stroll away, so dinner at Grimaldi's is more than a meal -- it's a whole evening out. The place itself is red-sauce heaven, with checkered tablecloths, framed Sinatra photos on the wall, chianti served in carafes and fresh everything -- from the gourmet black olives to the homemade mozzarella to the crispy crust. Grimaldi's takes pizza very seriously -- they may list a closing time, but when they run out of dough, that's all she wrote. No slices. -- Adam Mazmanian

THEY STILL NEED PAT & CAROL
By ROB4NY on 07/13/2008
The pizza is still the best i have every tried. And I been all over trying pizza. The place is real busy, and always a line, and an hour wait. But its still missing the present of PAT & CAROL, the Original owners, who knew how to treat there steady coustmers. Now a days when I do go there for pizza, I usually take a pie to go, and we sit under the Brooklyn Bridge and still get to enjoy the great flavor and taste of GRIMALDIS PIZZA without the hour wait, and noisy and packed room. I will be TRYING GRIMALDIS in HOBOKEN NJ real soon.

Grimaldi's

Grimaldi's is good but is it worth wasting 20 to 30 minutes of your time? The service is fast but the seating is taverna style and you have no idea who your neighbors are because everyone is in such a rush. I would rather order from the local My Little Pizzeria on Court St.
