Rate and Write a Review It's not clear what's older, the legend or the cheesecake. This is the third in the family of delis and bakeries; the original Junior's was opened in the 1950s by Harry Rosen in Brooklyn, sons Walter and Marvin expanded a second to Grand Central Station, and now this one near Times Square is run by grandson Allen. The unabashed nostalgia of the original remains intact - a "museum wall" bombards diners with Brooklyn memorabilia like "The Honeymooners" photos and murals of the Cyclone and Ebbets Field. Bocce ball lights hang from the ceiling while baseballs autographed by visiting celebrities are screwed into the wall. Because of its proximity to other steakhouses, the menu has trimmed the fat on some stuff (lobster tails are gone, but the Roumanian tenderloin is still here, thankfully). Dishes are heavy on the deli, like corned beef and baked Virginia ham, and barbeque, like the ribs, chicken and shrimp combo. Such Old World specialties as beef ghoulash over noodles and cheese blintzes go over big with the tourist and pre-theater crowd, who have finally stopped kvetching about having to schlep to Brooklyn.
