As vegan cuisine becomes more popular, it moves out of the depths of the crunchy East Village and onto Chelsea's bustling Ninth Avenue. Vegan devotees Ronen Seri, an actor, and his wife, an opera singer, opened Blossom hoping that others would see need for more vegan restaurants. They employ a few twists on the old vegan theme, following the culinary trend of having the menu change with the seasons and ingredients. While in season, pumpkin pairs with mushroom to make a savory gnocchi, best enjoyed near the working stone fireplace. Other dishes on this all-organic global menu include a warm root-vegetable roulade and a tempeh bacon BLT. At night, this cafe blooms into a full-scale restaurant with a list of organic wine and beers as well as upscale homemade desserts like white-chocolate napoleon and chocolate ganache terrine.

Excellent Vegan cuisine - Tasty and Healthy
By Janmilian on 10/04/2009
We had a great experience at Blossom! Our waitress was excellent, as well as the food. With a party of 8, we all were curious to sample each others dish. The mini crab cakes were absolutely devine. Great texture, flavor and light yet satisfying. Also the wild mushroom soup is the most delicious mushroom soup I've ever had. For the main course, my fettuchini with vegan bolognese sauce was so delicious, I practically licked the plate clean. Also, the satan with red wine sauce was excellent - tasted like a portobella mushroom with the most delicious wine sauce. The spinach ravioli in a soy cream sauce was also a popular one at our table. For a light main, the steamed vegatables with kinoa come beautifully presented in an artists plate. Next, the desserts were soooo delicious; the chocolate ganache cake had a rich dense texture with light flavors drizzled with peanut butter and vanilla soy ice cream, cinnamon sticks - apples rolled in philo dough with a cognac caramel sauce was so delicious the girls wouldn't let us try a piece, the tofu cheesecake was also very good. Will definitely return very soon.

the food i had was sort of regular restaurant style comfort food, a bit pricey to eat often, but worth the splurge. I wish they were open for lunch.

Definitely one of the best vegan options in the city
By Mzmooz on 05/16/2008
The night we ate here everything was perfect. The food was amazing; the staff friendly; the atmosphere was tranquil and serene; the restaurant was clean and minimally decorated--a lovely environment. I loved everything about this place, except the hefty price, but it is totally worth it. I ******* were closer to my office so I could have no excuses not to visit more frequently.
