Owner George Lang may have aged like all of us his old friends from the 1940's,but the dignified atmosphere and the loyalty of his guests are testimony
that LIFE IN PAST WAS MORE SUBDUED than the ROCK AND ROLL crowd of today..food is excellent , prices in line with other first class restaurants..only the waiter service needs improvement ....smiles and courtesy never hurt !
Time travel
I have not had other than brunch at the cafe, but what a brunch! The food is delicious, and delicious looking and the prices are reasonable. The service is friendly and attentive. It's true the seating is a little close in some areas, which has not been bothersome for us and with this location you may be bumping elbows with celebrity. Definitely a must if you are visiting the City. My wife and I make this a weekend regular.

I love this place. I have dined at the cafe 4 or 5 times and each time I find something new and exciting.
GB7's Review
Let me preface this review by saying that I took my wife to this restaurant because I had heard it was romantic and that the service was perfect. It failed on both fronts. The waiters were not attentive at all - and we were seated so close to the next table it was if we were eating with another couple. I can't believe people actually propose at this restaurant - the woman at the next table might think she is the one being offered the ring! The food was excellent - about a 23 in zagat terms. There are dozens of other restaurants to spend big money in - this was a disappointment. If you want to see the art, have dessert here.
