In ShortEatery's design is spare: High white ceilings, a cement floor and green banquettes. A small, well-populated bar sits off to the side. The New American menu is well-suited for snacking. Comfort foods abound, with dishes like baked macaroni and cheese, jerk chicken with mashed sweet potatoes, garlic roast chicken and a chili-rubbed pork chop with polenta. Desserts include cheesecake, warm chocolate cake and an ice cream sandwich with whipped cream.

Great food & atmosphere

The food is very good, but I will never go back. I' ve been in the restaurant business a very long time and I can't think of a place with a ruder manager. It's a shame.

I am suffering the gentrification of Ninth Avenue. That means restaurants like Eatery that look great but aren't good for anything but drinks. Food is overpriced and very mediocre. Service is hit and miss and sometimes stupid and rude. I would rather see a good diner there. Actually there is one across the street, Giorgio's, go there.
