One of America's most popular restaurants, Gramercy Tavern serves inventive American cuisine from Chef Michael Anthony in a rustic yet elegant setting. Gramercy Tavern's superb staff will envelop you with warm hospitality and delight you with an extraordinary selection of wines. In the Main Dining Room, we offer prix-fixe menus starting at $86 for dinner and an a la carte menu for lunch service. Reservations are accepted in the Main Dining Room. In the more rustic Tavern area, the a la carte menu is prepared on a wood burning stove and reservations are not accepted.

Was served raw chicken
By ct203guy on 08/15/2006
I was dining alone and was seated at the bar. I ordered the chicken and after 45 minutes, was told that my order was "lost". About 10 minutes later, they brought the chicken out raw and bleeding in the middle. I sent it back for more cooking and the chicken came back charred on the outside and still pink in the middle. Of course I refused again and had them remove it from my bill. Worse part is that I was never given an apology, or "sorry for the inconvenience". I'll never go back there.

I couldn't have been more dissatisfied with the meal. It was undercooked and raw.

Tavern Room lost their chef?
By bubsywub on 04/17/2005
Has the Tavern Room lost their chef? I've dined several times at Gramercy Tavern, twice in the dining room and numerous times in the tavern room since the restaurant first opened.. This past Saturday however, I'm sorry to say that the food in the Tavern Room is no longer up to what it was. The octopus appetizer first arrived tepid, then arrived overcooked. The Greenmarket salad is now ordinary rather than extraordinary, the chicken entree was merely OK, the bass entree OK as well. Wines by the glass are still excellent. The Tavern Room was once a standout where one could walk in and have an outstanding meal. Now the meal is merely OK.

Excellent food and service with the tiniest portions imaginable. I had to eat 12 rolls to feel at least somewhat sated.
