La Bonbonniere   

La Bonbonniere is an old-school New York coffee shop that shows its flavor with no apologies. A true neighborhood spot, its customers defy stereotype, ranging from a few low-key celebs (the staff has a soft spot for Molly Shannon) and writers to construction workers, who all pack into this greasy spoon morning, noon, and night. With good reason, this place has earned awards for best hangover cure -- the cheddar cheese omelet or "world's best" French toast can put any late-night partier back on his or her feet. A word to the wise: don't dine here for breakfast unless you love the smell of bacon, because it will lovingly stick to your clothes at least until lunchtime. But for all of its idiosyncrasies, "The Bon" has a vibe that can't be duplicated and a faithful staff that is always nice to return to.
