It's hard to tell whether there are more celebrities in the black-and-white photos on the wall or actually fawning over a plate of linguine puttanesca on any given night at Patsy's. Best known as the go-to haunt of the late Frank Sinatra, this 1950s-esque Neapolitan "Off-Broadway Hit," located just off Broadway in the Theater District, has been feeding Ol' Blue Eyes and other gastronomic ghosts hearty helpings for over half a century. Under the neon sign, the intimate, no-frills eatery has only had three chef/owners at the helm: the late and founding Pasquale "Patsy" Scognamillo, his son Joe, and the current chef, Joe's son Sal. Count on the same familiar classic dishes that have made Patsy's a must-eat fixture for incoming families, celebs and pre/post theatergoers. Signatures include Sinatra's favorite -- Frank's veal cutlets Milanese -- as well as lobster fra diavolo, chicken Contadina and six natural-tomato homemade sauces so good they stay "under your skin" until the next visit. -- Yon Motskin

Patsy's Restaurant
By JoyWronie on 10/03/2009
My first experience was diappointing because we felt that we were pretty much ignored by the staff because were not "Well-knowns". We had heard such good things about Patsy's and left feeling disappointed with the service and the food.

Well Worth It!
By pupk9 on 08/06/2006
Last summer a friend and I were lucky enough to have chosen Patsy's as one of our places to dine at while in NY. Nice ambiance, the servers were right there when needed to take away your empty plate or to refill your cocktail/wine glass. But, not too close that you felt like you were being hovered over. I must say the Veal Marsala was the best I've ever had. Well worth every bite. Prices were reasonable for NY. We even were lucky enough to have seen some celebrities. Bill Hayes & Susan Seaforth-Hayes (Doug & Julie from Days of Our Lives) and Liza Minelli. The owners were very gracious & even signed our cookbooks we bought along with one of their menus. They even gave us both a jar of their pasta sauce. One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I would not hesitate to go back again.

No doubt the food is well prepared but you may leave feeling hungry with a much thinner wallet. use to be very authentic food, fair portion size and moderate prices. No more on all accounts. Just not worth it

Good food, bad service
By mryfllr on 12/17/2004
The food was good, but unfortunately even the best food cannot overcome unfriendly service. We came all the way from Oregon and chose Patsy's because it was recommended to us but we certainly are not used to being treated this way. As an example, we asked for fresh ground pepper for our salad and the waiter looked at the salad and said, "There's already some on it." We just looked at him and when he brought the pepper mill he held it over one small spot. We felt as if we were an incnvenience to the wait staff. Maybe the restaurant shuld be reserved for celebrities only.
