Claire is evil
The food at Sapa is good and you get big portions for the money but they have such an attitude that it ruins the rest of the experience. I have been many timesand dealt with the tude... but last night I tried to order takeout and had the misfortune to speak with Claire. She was incredibly rude and hung up on me! I would only go back if I were really in need of a place to go that is close to home. there are much better places to go
WOW. GREAT SPOT!
Went with my husband and 2 other couples on a Wednesday night. My husband and I are hardcore traveling foodies. I think I have been to all of the restaurants in NY ranked 20 or above on Zagats. Without a doubt, Sapa is now one of our favorite restaurants in New York. The food there is always polished, and really tasty. It's a beautiful space. The highlight here is definitely the food. I loved the Vietnamese Rolls. They taste amazing. They have such a wonderful fresh taste about them. I had an incredible Cod that was roasted in parchment and my husband had a Ginger Crusted Ahi that was to die for. Sapa is awesome- so much better than Jean Georges (where I found my food inedible), or Union Square Cafe, that is so over rated along with so many other hyped restaurants in NY. Definately check out Sapa. Go with your significant other or a group. Make sure to ask for Brian, the owner. What a cutie! Shhh, don't tell my husband.
.
extremely crowded with a long wait was also my experience although they made it up with free drinks and nibbles at bar...food was ok I think there is room for improvement
FEISTY
WE WERE THERE SATURDAY NIGHT WITH 10 PEOPLE. THE PLACE WAS JAMMED PACKED AT THE BAR, LOUNGE, AND DINING ROOM. IN FACT, AFTER WE WERE SEATED THEY "RAN OUT OF CHAIRS." SO THE MANAGER HAD TO COME OVER AND FIGURE OUT THAT AN UNUSED CHAIR AT A NEARBY TABLE COULD BE BROUGHT TO OUR TABLE. THIS TOOK ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND SOME LOUD DISCUSSINS BETWEEN US AND THE WAIT STAFF. IN A NICE GESTURE, THEY BROUGHT OVER SOME APPETIZERS ON THE HOUSE. THE FOOD WAS GOOD (EXCEPT THE COD WHICH WAS OVERSALTED AND AWFUL) AND THE ATMOSPHERE HOT BUT BE PREPARED FOR 20 SOMETHING'S IN BLACK WITH LOTS OF SKIN SHOWING AND THAT IS JUST THE HOSTESSES. IT IS A PLACE THAT IS PROBABLY BEST VISITED FOR DRINKS BUT AVOID IF YOU WANT A DINING EXPERIENCE OR ARE OVER 40.
