As half the name might imply, the majority of Spicy & Tasty's menu is Szechuan-style, although the formality of the gold, thickly carpeted interior might come as a surprise. Nothing, though, could be more shocking than the first time you bite into a Szechuan peppercorn, which is like a mouthful of Mount St. Helens. An hour later, your lips and tongue will still be tingling. Luckily, Szechuan chili oil is doused all over the dishes here, like beef tripe and tendon that jumble in a pool of neon-orange chili oil. But don't get complacent: the heavier sauces on lamb, pork and fish dishes tend to be even hotter. The menu section called "Szechuan delicacies" arouses suspicion in American palates with hot and sour cold jelly and duck blood and intestine in sour cabbage. But the section redeems itself with dan-dan noodles with minced pork, all kinds of shredded meats in fresh hot pepper, sweet items like sesame bean paste, and "peanut butter sweet sticky rice ball" that makes you feel like your sneaking in some dessert during dinner.

I eat at spicy and tasty at least once a week and i absolutely love it! I must have tried all the appetizers from the appetizer bar in the front of the restaurant and my favorite is still the beef and beef tendon mixed together, the rush from the peppercorns is great, the beancurd with celery is also very good but more for the non spicy eaters. For a maincorse i always order the tea smoked duck, its perfectly crispy and smokey and surprisingly its not the least bit oliy like some duck can be. I also order the talapia with the mapo tofu served on a metal hot plate with the flames underneath it to keep it warm. At times when im craving it or when its cold i order the sour vegatable and fish hot pot. The fish is so fresh all the time and the chinese sour vegetables adds a nice balance, and you can order the ingredients to go into your hot pot. The prices are great and you can get seated pretty fast one a busy weekend. All in all this is truly one of thebest and cleanest authentic chinese restaurants in all of nyc.

Not for hot spice novices. I had the Rabbit Tenders in Red Chili Sauce. Served cold and chopped into small pieces with bone in, it took a bit of time to get the meat from the bone. It was loaded with red hot chili pepper and red hot oil and was very flavorful. It made my mouth numb. This restaurant is in th middle of the block 39-07 1H Prince Street.
