Now this is a slice of Old New York! Cheap but good burgers, served by classy guys in white jackets and bow ties; big hunks of pie and mugs of joe. And all right in the shadow of St. Patrick's. In a setup that's oddly reminiscent of the schoolroom you've been trying to forget since you were a kid, the broiler man cooks the soft burgers and plunks 'em down on your tray, which fits into a kind of culinary grammar-school desk. Or is it supposed to evoke a toddler's high chair? You've also got the option of bellying up to the lengthy counter. Either way, you'll feel like you're in a vintage TV commercial from the days of black-and-white. Insiders' tip: Pies are excellent, baked by a veteran pie man. Go for the apple crumb. Wait, maybe sweet potato.

Awful Burger
By Jtleyden on 10/06/2009
I went to Prime Burger based on the reviews I read here. My experience was nothing like the best burger in town I expected. The burger was thin, over cooked, and at best average. It did not have the consistency of good beef. It was priced like a deluxe burger but came with nothing. The french fries I ordered separately were grease soaked and unremarkable. The restaurant was empty, which should have told me something, and the service unpleasant. No wonder they automatically add 15% to the check -- without it there would be no tips.

By Mtstemp on 11/01/2008
Theres nothing like going to a place that has kept the old character of old New York. The burgers are delicous, the pie is great and try the spectacular cream of tomato soup! The atmosphere is old world New York greesy spoon with class. Please don't ever let this place go away! A real NY institution!!!!!

By giiaannnna x3 on 07/13/2008
The Primeburger has delicious food and the waiters are always nice and polite. It is in a great spot, right across from St. Patricks Cathedral and near Rockefeller Center. If you want a delicious burger, go to The Primeburger. it's great for families!
