OOOuch!!
By Harley96Softail on 04/19/2009
My first unhappy experience in 7 years. The sides were awesome. The service was great. I had the baby back ribs and the french onion soup. Both were special items. The soup was served in a coffee cup with a slice of bread sprinkled with cheese. The baby back ribs were...I didn't eat them. My wife hade the famous Virgil's trash ribs and brisket combo. Virgil's famouns riblets were great. The brisket was cold.

ribs were good

We started with the hush puppies. They were horrible. The ribs were very good with a nice smoke ring in the meat. Still not as good as Smokin Als in bayshore long island. Pulled pork was ok . the side of mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes. Mac & cheese was good. Corn bread was the worst corn bread I have ever tasted. Instant corn bread out of a box would be a great improvement over there recipe. This is probably why there hushpuppies were so bad. Place was half empty and the bathroom was filthy, clogged toilets. What could the kitchen be like?

Bad food and bad service
By Redhd62330 on 08/31/2008
If you are from North Carolina do NOT order the Carolina pulled pork thinking you are getting something similar. It is not!! It was pulled meat that tasted like it had been soaked in tomato paste. Yuck!! Also, one of the main reasons I went there was I had seen them online and went to their web site and it said the had lemon chess pie. I had not had chess pie since I was a child in NC so I was really looking forward to it. The waitress said "oh I don't know why that's on the menu since we haven't had it since i have been here." Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else to eat. Whenever we wanted something it was hard to get the waitress eye to take care of us.
