For the Love of Butter

Iowa State Fair
We know Iowa is a dairy producing state and so there is no surprise to the Iowa State Fair's dedication to butter. That dedication manifests as butter sculptures (we're talking big, butter sculptures) in a tradition that both frightens and excites us. We like big butter and we cannot lie.
The annual butter cow (left with sculptor Sarah Pratt) weights 600 pounds, which is about half the weight of a regular, not-made-of-butter dairy cow and the butterized Peanuts gang makes us want popcorn.
Some other state fairs with dedication to the butter via sculptures are Illinois, Ohio, New York and Minnesota.
