If you grow tired of downtown Red Bank's bourgeois bohemia, you need only to cross West Front Street, and pass through the dilapidated faade of Chubby's Waterfront Cafe to enter a different scene altogether. Chubby's is a cavernous nightclub with two bars and a big, professional sound stage and light show. Usually the stage is occupied by a bunch of Guitar Center mooks in chain-chokers and patchy, peroxided hair, knocking out note-for-note cover versions of Green Day or the Foo Fighters on their shiny, carved maple-top Paul Reed Smiths. The place gets stiflingly hot and stuffed to the gills with scantily clad hometown chicks, and as the party starts rocking out, some of them get up and dance all loose and drunken on the bar. Whoo! Still, they won't talk to you. But maybe your one good-looking friend, Paolo, has a shot.

Fun and Friendly place.
By oddmoon3 on 02/02/2007
besides writing to say what a fun place Chubby's is, i wanted to reply to the review that said not to go alone and how dangerous it is? uhm..i go there alone about 80% of the time, and, that's mainly because, not only how fun it is, But, how welcome and comfortable the Entire staff (from the bartenders and door people, to the owner And the bouncers) have Always made me feel! the Only time they've done the things described were to the obnoxious drunk people who started fights and Deserved it! they Always made me feel welcome and at home, so i always returned. yes, Some (not All) of the girls dancing on the bar (or the floor) are stuck up and not so friendly, but, that's not the club's fault, so i just ignore them, laugh it off, and enjoy the great bands there and talk to the Nicer girls, And, All the nice people who Work there. =) great place to go after work to have a blast, or just kick back and relax!

WARNING PARENTS! DANGER ZONE!
By critic328 on 12/29/2006
WARNING! PARENTS WARN YOUR CHILDREN! This is a very dangerous place to be. They serve drinks to minors without fear of authorities. The bouncers and cops are one and the same. If, for some reason, they don't like the way you look, they will jump you, 2 or 3 will hold you down while a couple more beat the crap out of you for sport. Next, they will push you out the door where more cops are waiting, who are actually on the payroll of Chubby's, protecting the cops in civilian clothes that just did a number on you inside. If you try to report them or protest the violent assualt, they laugh in your face and threaten you with arrest. NEVER GO HERE ALONE! ALWAYS BE IN THE COMPANY OF AT LEAST 5 OR 6 FRIENDS!

RED BANK LOCAL
By actrss16 on 03/28/2006
CHUBBY'S!!! Used to sneak into this place when I was 18-grew up in the area. Chubby's is trashy yet so so fabulous. Hott chicks all the time, some decent-looking meat-heads, LOTS of locals, not ridiculous on the drink prices, somewhat reasonable. ALWAYS packed when Brian Kirk and the Jirks r playing (REALLY cheesy wedding band-type group, but they're always fun to dance/sing along to). Jersey Trash at it's finest--just don't say that out loud cuz you'll get your ass kicked.
