Don't even think about the drab, unassuming storefront and unadorned dining room. Far East Taste is about the food first, and everything else last. The owner, Richard Wang, is also a guide for novices and those willing to be led to the myriad combinations of Asian fare offered in Far East Taste's voluminous menu. Wang will make suggestions, and you ought to take them. Everything on the menu is good, but Wang can put together a head-spinning and mouth-watering pan-Asian jaunt simply by picking and choosing combos: coconut Thai soup leads in to Chinese dumplings, which preface a basil Thai beef dish or peanut pad Thai. A legion of local supporters keep the loud dining room full and modestly noisy, but they're there for a good reason: Far East Taste's take on the basics is understated and flavorful, and there are some creative surprises (uncommon Thai fish preparations) on the menu as well. Put yourself in Wang's able hands, tuck in your napkin, and enjoy this culinary tour of the East. -- D.J. Roth

Just keeps getting better
By YEE PAT on 08/27/2008
My family and I continue to be fans of the “new Far East Taste. Owner Frank has maintained the great taste and integrity of the food we have come to love there. But has added his own fresher style, not burying the dish in heavy sauces, the flavors are more intense, the look clean and appetizing. But feel free to ask for “extra” sauce if it isn’t already offered by the doting and pleasant manager. Old favorites like Thai Basil Shrimp and fresh fish in “special sauce” are more appealing than ever . The positive comments are overheard easily as patrons nearby say “Delicious!” while savoring the Mango Chicken and more. The dining area also has taken on a cleaner more airy look. No longer the drab interior with heavy aromas lingering inside as was the old establishment. Still hiding in the same place, do not overlook this family style restaurant. Just look for the twinkling OPEN sign on the window and enter through the rear parking area. Still young and in the making.. a “diamond in the rough”, I look forward to more adventures in eating here. Pat Nastasi

Exceptional Food
By brentef on 04/14/2007
The food is the finest, the ingredients are the freshest and Richard (owner) is the most knowledgeable. The decor is barely acceptable... this is not the pace to go for ambience.. do you want the present (the food) or the box(the restaurant)?? I'll take the present as I really don't care about the wrappiing!

Incredible

Don't be fooled by the outside. If it wasn't so highly recommended, I wouldn't have stepped foot inside. But once I did, I enjoy going back as often as possible. The Hot & Sour soup is the best I've ever had (it's the best in the country if you ask Richard the owner). The spicy food is extra spicy - but there's enough non-spicy food for you non-hot food lovers. And the ambiance isn't as bad as other reviewers state. It's nothing special, but not dumpy either. But regardless - go there for the food. You won't be disappointed!
