The DePersio family (Ryan, Cynthia and Anthony) give Mario Batali a run for his money, utilizing all the delicious, earthy flavors that the Boot has to offer. Just be sure to make a reservation. The atmosphere of Fascino, with its minimalist cream and deep red decor, borders on stark but not casual. The complexity's in the entrees, where flavors, scents and textures fuse seamlessly. Puree of kobacha squash soup with oregano crema and hazelnut oil wins the intriguing appetizer award, and the paper-thin sheets of beef carpaccio with truffle oil and petite salad are a beef purist's dream. Pastas, risottos and raviolis are all available as appetizers or main courses, but the duck breast with confit cannelloni and black fig compote or pine nut-crusted codfish might be hard to pass up.

Delidhtfull experience
By EL SIDENO on 07/14/2008
Each time we visit Ryam, Cynthia and Anthony we are anticipating anpther delightful evening, and are never disappointed. I say "visit" the Persios advisedly because that is exactly what it is; a visit ! with friends who serve superior food, Each time our daughter drives from Philadelphia we must go to Fascino's in order to be sure our evening is complete,

I have no idea where other reviewers are eating....

But it's not the Fascino that we know and love. We have had birthday celebrations there that Ryan and Anthony made remarkable; we just had our first wine tasting dinner there last month and everyone in the room was amazed by the food's quality and originality. Usually, we do the tasting menu in some form, but if Anthony leads us in a new direction, we'll gladly follow. AND how many local restaurants have a set-up with the best wine store in town (Amanti Vino) where you can order wine at your table (in a BYOB) and have it hand-delivered moments later? Honestly, we have lived in Hoboken and in NYC and had access to some of the best food in the New York metro area, and this is truly top of our list. Run, don't walk, to this phenomenal little spot!

Not what it used to be...
By Liset1099 on 07/03/2008
Went there for my birthday this last April. After raving to our friends how good the food was, we were left to apologize for the lackluster dinner. My quinoa was more than al dente, the rissoto was average(had better at Corso's in Montclair) my husband proclaimed my ability to make a med. rare steak to be far superior and is there an aversion to properly salt the food? I could go on.. Our reservation was for 9:00PM @ 10:10 our waiter dissapeared , why on earth accept a party of four only to rushed them out? Unless ofcourse it is strictly for the $$$. There are far more consistant restaurants to go to.

A nice family
By DOGEDOC on 07/03/2008
This is a restaurant with a lovely family but I do not think the food is stellar. The prices are consistent with other restaurants in the area. They have good special pairing dinners. Other than that, it is OK and nothing really to write home about.
