Mola Coffee   

Mola Coffee certainly isn't the only java joint in Hoboken, but in a city with no shortage of places to sit for a drink, this Washington Street cafeteria draws its comfortable share of sippers. One reason is that Mola captures the ideal coffee-joint vibe without trying too hard. Bright colors (a showcase, perhaps, of its bold Colombian roots) and simple furniture create an inviting ambience. Unique beverages both hot (great espresso) and cold (try a cremosa) are poured by deft and friendly baristas. Pets are also welcomed with open arms, but watch out -- that container by the sugar is full of dog biscuits, not human treats. Cookie-cutter coffee shacks usually lack the small touches -- outdoor patio, saxophone player --- that make places like Mola a more desirable choice to spend five minutes, an hour or even an entire afternoon absorbing a book, surfing the Web or shooting the breeze.
