Nikko may be the most popular sushi restaurant in Morris County. And it's easy to see why: The kitchen is consistent, the prices are reasonable, and the place is never empty. Sometimes this creates a lively atmosphere, other times it's just plain crowded. But this Route 10 restaurant has remained a crowd-pleaser over the years with their well-prepared sushi and cooked entrees. Non-raw foodies are not second-class citizens at Nikko. The beef horenso is a good choice for those looking for a heartier, meatier meal. That's delicately sliced beef, sauteed with spinach in garlic and sprinkled with sesame seeds. For seafood that's cooked, the house nabe -- a stew of scallops, lobster tail, fish, shrimp, veggies and tofu -- can easily feed two. For dessert, Nikko serves mitsumamei, a popular Japanese sweet dish seldom found in Jersey sushi joints. It tops ice cream with a medley of fruit, agar, sweet sauce and red beans. The first-come, first-serve policy creates lots of competition for seating, especially on the weekends, so be prepared to come early or wait in line.
