Scarlet Pub   

When is a happy hour not a happy hour? Good question, but the least-depressing answer is that when a happy hour is about five hours long, like the Scarlet Pub's 6PM to 11PM joint, it is not just a happy hour but a cause for celebration. The Scarlet Pub isn't breaking much new ground as a pub -- in case you didn't guess by the "Scarlet" in the name, this is a fairly fratty rah-rah Rutgers bar -- but they do what they do quite well. What they do should be no surprise, either: ladies' nights, cheap beer specials, the occasional karaoke incident and tons of danceable beats. It's all good, though: While the aesthetics aren't going to impress pub purists and the hearty, beery crowds will freak out claustrophobics, those looking for a fraternitesque good time away from the frats will certainly find it here. In fact, you're pretty much guaranteed to leave certain that you've found whatever it was you were looking for if you stay for all five happy hours. You might not remember what it was, though.
