This new concept has already become the most-talked-about opening in Montclair in quite the while, for reasons both pro and con. First off, we'll say this: it's an awfully handsome space, with solid wooden family-style tables in tall front windows and a more intimate bar area in back. Dcor runs to big murals. There's also a courtyard out back, and the holy grail of Montclair dining: free parking. One key gimmick here that hits you right off the bat is the sangria menu. It holds a dozen different variations, from an almost cloyingly sweet version of the classic red-plus-fruit standard, to far more adventurous (mojito and banana) takes. Among the delightful tapas and appetizers are fried bits of goat cheese, empanadas, stuffed peppers, little cuts of pork belly, some addictively crunchy chicken 'lollipops' and sassy garlic shrimp. Entrees are less daring, but do range from Latin (pork) to surprising Caribbean items (oxtail, snapper). Here's hoping the service kinks get worked out, fast.

Great Atmosphere!
By Harleycag on 07/14/2008
Went here on a warm Saturday night in July. It was packed! We were told there was a 30 minute wait, but after flirting with the maitre d we were seated outdoors in about 5 minutes! Unfortunately that's where our luck ended. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening despite the poor service and good, but not great food. We started with the garlic shrimp appetizer. I asked the waiter if it was large enough for 2 and he said yes, but there was barely enough for 1! And they were so overcooked that they tasted like rubber. I had the pan fried pork chops, which were tasty but alsoovercooked and dry. The desserts were well worth it...the flan was delicious and the tres leches was yummy. All in all, I would go back, but just to sit in the wonderfully festive courtyard.

skip this place....
By Theinfamous973 on 07/04/2008
I thought the service was good but thats about it. We ordered a pitcher of there version of a mojito which was watered down and tasteless. Then we tried their sangria which was worse then the mojito. That sangria was the worst sangria I have ever had. Then I had ropa vieja which is a very basic cuban dish which was extremely bland. Skip this place and try a cuban restaurant with authentic food and drinks
