The element that hits the strongest when taking in the Sutra Lounge is the air of romance. The decor is predominately a modern take on classically Asian elements with authentic details like an antique opium bed, an oversized statue of Buddha in the foyer and a stunning color scheme consisting of black, maroon and gold accents. Since the restaurant opens at dusk, the quixotic atmosphere is increased tenfold. The clientele is what you'd expect from a posh restaurant of this caliber: young-ish, good-looking, trendy and with money to burn. That's not to say the food is overly expensive. The exotic menu of lobster, shrimp, and game hen swimming in indulgent sauces and glazes is served appetizer style, which encourages one to order more ''entrees'' than usual. Factor in a couple of drinks from the bar's outstanding wine or cocktail list and the tab for two can reach a princely sum.

What are you thinking?
By aloha6855 on 10/30/2004
Most of the decor was well thought out. Too bad someone decided it would be best to put a giant tv over the bar with a football game on. Who's idea was this? The food is good but you get distracted from the ambiance every now and then with some squeeky waitress talking too loud. One more thing, the music played at dinner some New York , New York jsu doesn't match. Bottom line who's in charge is screwing up a potential very good thing.

By oneforcures on 08/25/2004
Don't know what moron wrote the description, but... Morocco is NOT a buddhist country!!! "Morocco with authentic details like an antique... oversized statue of Buddha" The cuisine isn't Moroccan either.

unorganized!
By brittanee247 on 08/03/2004
This lounge needs some organization outside very badly! There wasn't even a line... just a huge mob of people. There weren't enough staff to keep people from jumping over the rope or organize a line. So many people just gave up and left because of the big mess of people outside. And groups of people were leaving by 11pm complaining of no place to sit and no room to dance. Take if from me... I had a group of my hottest girlfriends waiting outside trying to get in. When hot girls with lots of $ to spend can't get into a club & have been outside since 10pm something's wrong!

what a night
By clhoefoster on 07/30/2004
The exotic setting was just the start of a fabulous night.Once the appetizers rolled around I knew it was just the begining of a grreat night. The food was contageous and left you wanting more. The cocktails were just perfect, but if only the crowd would have arrived a little later it would have been an even more enjoyable night.
