Centrally located in Newport Beach, the Hyatt Regency (formerly known as the Hyatt Newporter) is just minutes away from beaches, shopping and attractions. John Wayne Airport is only a few miles away, and there is a free airport shuttle service available. With acres of beautifully manicured grounds, the hotel overlooks the Back Bay and is home to the Outdoor Amphitheater that hosts the summer jazz series and the Newport Jazz festival. Several restaurants and cocktail lounges are located on the property as well. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed, with the requisite bath amenities, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, and in room coffeemaker. Service is very good, and there's plenty of parking available, though if you choose to self- park rather than valet, it's a bit of a haul from the parking lot. The hotel went through a $12 million renovation in 2004, updatings its rooms and restaurants, and adding luxury villas to go along with its nine-hole golf course, volleyball court, pools, hiking trails and spa.
