Rate and Write a Review Although Daimon can claim it offers some of the freshest and most well presented seafood in Orange County, this hipster's haven rates equally high (if not higher) on the image scale. Because its owners had the inventive idea of cranking alternative rock and roll and turning the normally serene atmosphere of a Japanese restaurant into a nightclub-like circus, Daimon is considered one of the first restaurants that revived the sushi craze of the early 90s. For example, it's not uncommon to find sushi chefs flipping bits of grilled shrimp into diner's mouths up to 20 or 30 feet away. It's also not uncommon to find slightly soused ladies dancing to the loud soundtrack as they're waiting for their orders. But what about the food? Rest assured it matches the excitement of the ambiance: the spicy seafood salad makes for a great starter or even a quick light meal for anyone in a hurry. Of course, it's the rolls that keep this place moving forward -- the basic ones like spicy tuna and the California are all well and good, but try the Ninja roll, of spicy tuna with double-wrapped seaweed, lightly fried in panko with eel sauce -- it's the most popular roll of the house.
