The sole eatery at chi-chi Westcliff Plaza not only boasts delectable sandwiches and baked goods, it is the place to lunch with the ladies. Paintings from local artists adorn the walls inside, but for ultimate people watching, stick to the patio. The tables share a courtyard with an alfresco flower store and salon. Nearby, there is a row of boutiques with everything from Jimmy Choo shoes to a children's store with $150 mini chenille robes. Be sure to check out the bakery case for daily specials of vegetable strata and quiche. For sweets, try the berry tarts, biscotti and chocolate-espresso cookies that rock your world -- and your diet plan. The eatery is open for breakfast and lunch only. Choose from a healthy grilled vegetable sandwiches and salads or go straight for the lamb sandwich dressed with arugula and caramelized onions. Morning favorites include egg quesadillas with tomato, basil and spinach, or the egg sandwich with bacon, avocado and chipotle mayo on homemade bread. THE WORST FOOD EVER!!!!!!

This is absolutely the worst restaurant ever...which is too bad because their outdoor patio is great... I had breakfast a couple days ago and the egg dish with basil had no flavor and was served COLD with the pancakes served warm .. that was dissappointing. I gave them another shot for lunch to go today which was the absolute worst! a salad that looked like iceberg lettuce which turned out to be the butt ends of romaine lettuce I mean the whole thing was the butt end with browned edges- the dressing had no flavor and barely coated it so the salad was on the dry side....the bread was old and dryed out along with the desert. the worst cupcake all dried out and horrible..I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. WHAT A WASTE !!!! I would have returned it if it hadn't been to go... I can't believe they think it was acceptable to serve that!

I love Haute Cakes and regularly recommend it, so I do not agree with any of the negative reviews. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The service gets a bit slow when the place is jammed with customers, but for a place this good I can handle it. Bring a newspaper and your appetite.

I'm surprised by the poor reviews -- I have had very nice meals here surrounded by interesting, quirky customers. I guess I didn't really expect snappy service. This is a very nice place with some character.

If you like whole garlic cloves mixed in your morning potatoes you will like this place. Food is usually good but somehow seems less carefully managed than it once was when it was smaller.
