French songstress Edith Piaf sang the words, and Brea restaurateur Louis Laulhere lives by them. Experience his version of La Vie en Rose, the good life, at this award-winning restaurant fashioned after a French country farmhouse. Ensconced in comfortable private booths, warmed by a crackling fire and copious amounts of fine wine, guests can float away to a rose-tinted world where a meal can -- and should -- last a few leisurely hours. Most of the recipes come from the French countryside, specifically Provence and Laulhere's native Gascony. Pate or smoked salmon atop crusty, fresh-baked bread are classics on an appetizer menu that includes a signature lobster ravioli. The main courses are classics, as well: roast pork tenderloin, rack of lamb, filet mignon in Bearnaise sauce, and whatever fresh seafood catch or daily special is available. The dinners are prix fixe, so dessert is not a question of if, but what. Possibilities include Grand Marnier souffle, fresh-baked apple tart, house-made pastries and more. -- Lena Katz

Quatorze Juillet, 2007 et mon anniversaire

C'etait formidable! We not only enjoyed the wide variety of meats served, but also had an opportunity to personally join the festivities by singing and dancing. My wife sang "La Marseillaise" with Tony the accordionist to the explosive response of the crowd and accompanying fireworks. We joined in singing along with Tony and the Piaf impressionist. The food and drink were without equal. We can't wait until the next celebration.

I have been to La Vie en Rose twice and I must say It is not just a dinner it is a cultural experience:) Eveyone is so nice and well mannered. The decor was very nice, especially around the holidays. The waiter was very helpful in helping us decide (it all looked so good I didn't know what to choose)Anyone that wants a cultural experience or just a quiet relaxing dinner for two I hope you take my advice " You just have to come".
