Sitting atop a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Las Brisas (Spanish for "the breezes") is aptly named. Popular for birthdays and holidays because of its location, Las Brisas draws in touristy crowds, and at first glance, you may think you're trapped inside an '80s flashback due to dated decor and doilies beneath iced beverages. Even so, the food is good and the view's even better. There's even a flower garden out back. Served by polite and gracious waiters working feverishly to accommodate diners in a loud atmosphere, the menu includes a four-course Mexican Riviera brunch, with novelties such as crepas de Laguna stuffed with spicy scallops and shrimp, and a desayuno ranchero with a mesquite-broiled New York steak. For dinner, Las Brisas has many seafood dishes, including a calamari steak, an English sole and even a Brisas bouillabaisse. Prices tend to get a bit high, but if you're looking for the best reason to go, settle on the outdoor patio that offers prime people watching and an impression of Laguna you never forget.

It is old and needs a face lift. The food is at best OK. For what you get and the price it is not worth it. If you want a view it is good. It would be better and cheaper to go to Micky D and sit on the bluff for a lot less and better food.

The last time I've eaten at that particular restaurant was back in '89

It's been 19 years now since I've last eaten at that restaurant and at that time, the food was great, but I have no clue as to really how good it may still be. But when I did eat there the last time, I ordered some kind of a seafood plate (fish with something) and it was good. It was very fulfilling and I've only eaten there twice. The first time was when I took my sister there for her birthday on our way down to San Diego and then the last time was with a friend of mine whose no longer living.

It was great

After inquiring I was told Las Brisas was not a Mexican restaurant but more of a seafood of the Mexican Riviera restaurant. They do have a lot of seafood choices, but the halibut was the best, moist and delightful. Enjoyed together with the view, ( had to wait a little bit for a window table , very frankly had to wait longer sometimes for a doctor's appointment ), and a good margarita, it is enough to create a pleasant experience which we had. As crowded as it was I admire the servers for politely putting up with a lot of people ( and some around us were really mean, impatient and acting like they bought the restaurant because they paid more than their average taco bell ). I definitely recommend a trip there !
