If you're familiar with Javier's original restaurant on PCH in Laguna Beach, you already know that it's a pretty small restaurant with critically acclaimed food. Javier's Irvine Spectrum location has a bigger, fancier look to match its consistent cuisine. The menu fuses traditional Mexican fare like tamales, enchiladas and tacos with gourmet-touched ingredients like chipotle cream sauce, toasted almonds, smooth-leaf spinach and cilantro lime. Coupled with the Mexican influenced post-modernism of the restaurant's interior, the end result is a sleek, trendy restaurant with a new approach to traditional food. Days and early evenings find the restaurant with families, but the eatery becomes a night spot by 10PM.

This is some of the most authentic Mexican food I have eaten since I lived in Mexico! Its ALWAYS packed but if you're in the mood! GO HAVE SOME MARGARITAS!! They ARE sneaky with the charges. VERY STRANGE! We did get it straightened out. FINALLY!

This place rocks! Dont know which one you guys go to for the bad experiences?? I loved the Laguna beach location and often stop by the one at the spectrum and no matter which one I go to the food is always hot and delicious, best chips and salsa in ORANGE COUNTY! Went by the new location in Crystal Cove TODAY and again was not dissapointed! maybe you complainers walk in with attitude and they jack you for being rude (dont blame'em) I'd wait an hour if I had to! THE PLACE IS AWESOME AND THE FOOD ROCKS! Put your taste buds in check and stop being rude when you go and maybe they will treat you good!

Nickel and Dime Restaurant

Good Food with a Bad Experience Our dinner was very tasty and I really enjoyed the food. All the tastes and sauces were very authentic and I like the atmosphere. What ruined it for me was at the end of the meal I found out that we were being "Charged for extra Tortillas" and we also got an explanation that they were doing us a favor by letting me pack some salsa with my doggy bag. I did not know that tortillas and salsa make such an impact on a restaurant. That's like charging extra for dinner rolls at other restaurants. I also brought my two toddlers and we got popped for mandatory 18 percent tip on 4 adults and 2 kids. That rent at Irvine Spectrum must be hurting them. I'm glad I did not have a second cup of water. That's too bad, the food was good too.

You can do so much better!

Ok, So my family and I made reservations there for a friday night. We get there and of course the place is packed, confidently and glad that we don't have to wait in line like the other saps, we go to the host and give him our reservation. Firstly, he doesn't even say hi or welcome, he just stares... ok, so he proceeds to tell us that there is no such reservation. Let me tell you, I wanted to wring this little guys neck with the attitude he was giving us. He didn't say sorry, he didn't offer to put us on the waiting list, just stares...so we ask to talk to the manager and he says he's the manager! Of course, he was not the manager as we later found when we spoke to the daughter of the owner. We ate there months later and honestly, the food was so mediocre and too expensive for what you get. Service sucked again. I don't get it! I just don't get it! Go to Cantamars in Huntington Beach. Trust me.
