Located next to the historic Lido Theatre on the Balboa, the Lido and its red neon sign serve as a beacon for those who enjoy comfort food and a bit of nostalgia. Cloaked in subway tiles and plenty of stainless steel, the eatery caters to Armani-clad patrons, as well as beach goers, who stop in to savor dishes from the past, such as homemade meatloaf and marinated whole-roasted chicken. Contemporary offerings, such as gourmet pizza and creative salads, have also made their way onto the menu. Seats at the vintage soda fountain are hard to come by as guests sit idly slurping thick malts and old-fashioned phosphate drinks.
