beautiful view, bad service
By ambiehart on 04/28/2005
I've been serveral time to the Mining Co., it has a gorgeous view of the city (you can see LA), the food has always been ok (nothing to write home about) but the service.....horrible!!! we wait 45 mins for our food, on a wednesday night! never once did our server apologize for the food being so delayed, never said it would be a couple of min's longer or get a manager to speak to us. i work in the restaurant business, so i know how things are supposed to work and that is not it. i was extremely disappointed with the service and restaurant. if you like waiting for long periods of time for your food to come out.....this place is made for you.

TASTY

I go to this restaurant anytime I want a great meal. I first discovered the locale years ago when we went there for dinner before the prom. Since then, our family has celebrated birthdays or simply each other's company at this restaurant. I would advise going with a hearty appetite because your meal comes with the soup and salad bar. This is a great place even if you just want to have a couple drinks and a light appetizer...the bar has a beatiful view! I would recommend this restaurant to any of my friends; in fact, I gave gift certificates there as Christmas gifts.

Horrible Customer "Service"
By miata10thanned on 12/30/2004
After attending a funeral, our family decided to go out to dinner and not deal with having to worry about a meal. I called for reservations and was told the soonest they would take a party of 11 was at 8:30 pm. This was about 4:00 when they were called. I asked if we could come in at about 5 to 5:30 and we would wait to be seated. I was told that would be okay but they could not guarantee how long the wait would be. I figured, having worked in restaurant service, that on a Thursday night, two days before the New Year, when many people would be leaving town for the holiday, that it would not be too terribly bad. It was bad. When we got there, I was told they would not serve us since we were such a large party (9 adults and 2 children). For a facility that large with as few cars as were in the parking lot at the time, I was quite surprised. I asked the hostess (?) if she was telling me that they were turning away our business, and she replied "yes." When I spoke to the manager, he was not of the school of trying to solve the situation to prove that customers are important to the success and failure of a business. Needless to say, we found another restaurant, just down the street called Opus. I called from the OCMC parking lot and Opus said they would have a table ready for us when we got there. I WILL NOT GO BACK AGAIN. If I wanted to be treated with such disrespect, I would have gone to someplace like Ed Debevics, where their rudeness is expected. I expected better from this place. In the past, the food is not great, but never got food poisoning. So perhaps, not all was lost, except our business and those of our friends and collegues.
