A few positive phrases come to mind when people bring up the Orange Hill: spectacular Sunday brunch, great view overlooking the entire north county, memorable wedding receptions. Unfortunately, there are some phrases that aren't so favorable: forced valet parking, extremely long waits (even with reservations) and very high prices. But don't let these facts deter you from one of the best dining experiences in Orange County. As far as the menu is concerned, Orange Hill keeps it very basic: thick steaks, fresh fish, seasoned poultry and exceptional lamb. You can't go wrong with anything you order here, the master chefs see to that. The real reason OC restaurant aficionados keep returning is the atmosphere: wedding parties, couples celebrating anniversaries and those newly in love swear by this place. There are also several special events throughout the year, including a big Thanksgiving celebration and festive New Year's Eve shindig. Also be sure to make time to lounge by one of the outdoor fire pits overlooking the city, while sharing a good bottle of wine. -- Michael Alarcon

Great dining experience
By LuvWineAndDine on 06/20/2008
Went here for dinner the other night and had the best time ever! I don'y know why some others here said their experience was terrible, maybe they were expecting TGIF prices and McDonalds food timing! I mean really! 20 - 25 minutes for steak is completely reasonable for a restaurant like this... I thoroughly enjoyed my food and the presentation was terrific. Service was impeccable and the night was perfect. The only criticism that I have is that they really should pour money into the building as the interior could and should be so much better... Not different, just better and more up to date. But do not let that deter you from one of Orange County's top dining destinations! This place is 5 star!

Incredible Restaurant

A dining experience like no other! Orange Hill is the most unique and elegant restaurants in todays world of super trendy and chain restaurant concepts - usually nice shell but not alot of substance. Not here - not at Orange Hill Restaurant. This place has the most amazing views and ambiance to go along with it's amazing cusine. On our visit everyone was extremely helpful from the front desk to the bus staff - the manager even came by to see how we were doing! The food - AH MAZE ING!!! To start I had the Kobe Beef skewers YUM! Tasty and super tender. For dinner I had the Filet Oscar style - what a treat (I know, I know....Meat and then more meat...But how could I resist). At the end we kept it simple and went for their house made upside down apple walnut pie with cinnamon ice cream - GREAT! If looking to impress or just want to have the best there is the I highly reccomend Orange HIll for any night out! Oh and I hear they have a great Sunday brunch too - I am gonna have to check that out - will re-post here and let y'all know how that goes - I am sure it will blow my mind too! Chow!!!!

Best in Souther Cal.!

We went to Orange Hill last Thursday night for a business dinner and let me tell you - this place is tops! Upon arriving the ever so attentive valet greeted us promtly and were very courteous and professional. The walkway was a treat in itself with waterfalls and a koi pond - SO NICE! We entered the lobby (we were a party of four) and were greeted promptly by the smiling host staff whom accomodated us right away (we wanted a window table so they did not have a window right away but they suggested the bar or patio with fire pits while we wait for one - no problem - we wanted a window so we waited). The patio was impressive framing the expansive view which was unbelievable - the cocktail staff were courteous,m freindly and effecient. Within 1/2 hour (which flew by as we were enjoying the patio) we got our window! We were brought to our table by a freindly hostess (can't remember the name!) who even brought us black napkins (Nice touch when you are wearing a black suit). The waitress approched our table and was smiling, informative and very attentive. The food - This was amazing - We started out with the duo of scallop and prawn and their baked brie - to die for - then we had their green salad - which was great as well. The entrees were terrific as well - I had the Chilean Sea Bass which was phenominal and the other guests in my party had beef dishes and said they ranked up there with the best they had ever had. I must say that we will be enjoying not only more business dinners at the Orange Hill, but my family will also be coming back many times. It is hard to find great food, great service and great ambiance all in one place today and Orange Hill definately over delivers on all these and more. Don't miss this place!

Good for the view
By mystickym on 02/17/2008
Overpriced for the view. That was the only thing that was worth the trip up the long and steep driveway. From the time our order was taken, in a room where the tables were packed in like sardines, about an hour later our food arrived. The prime rib was so bad, little meat, lots of fat- had to be sent back, veggies over cooked, my fish, was fishey.. the bread was good, which is what we ate while waiting and waiting for dinner to come. Served by a stressed out waiter. This is not my first time to this restaurant with a view, it will be my last time there to eat. Worth a drive to have a cocktail on the patio. Save your hard earned cash, and go somewhere else.
