A few positive phrases come to mind when people bring up the Orange Hill: spectacular Sunday brunch, great view overlooking the entire north county, memorable wedding receptions. Unfortunately, there are some phrases that aren't so favorable: forced valet parking, extremely long waits (even with reservations) and very high prices. But don't let these facts deter you from one of the best dining experiences in Orange County. As far as the menu is concerned, Orange Hill keeps it very basic: thick steaks, fresh fish, seasoned poultry and exceptional lamb. You can't go wrong with anything you order here, the master chefs see to that. The real reason OC restaurant aficionados keep returning is the atmosphere: wedding parties, couples celebrating anniversaries and those newly in love swear by this place. There are also several special events throughout the year, including a big Thanksgiving celebration and festive New Year's Eve shindig. Also be sure to make time to lounge by one of the outdoor fire pits overlooking the city, while sharing a good bottle of wine. -- Michael Alarcon

Waste of money
By nicoleelaine on 03/10/2007
I've had their Sunday brunch twice now and have not been impressed. It is very busy, and we were stuffed in the back banquet room. The view is the only nice thing about this place. The service was ok. The food was standard, not worth the money. I wont be revisiting here again.

Christmas Brunch
By formerbc on 12/26/2006
Christmas Brunch. The server was inattentive, and we had to make several requests for drink refills, even going so far as to ask two other employees before receiving our first soft drink refill. The soft drinks were extra, with no free refills, so you would have thought they'd want to sell more! Quality of food was inconsistent. Prime rib was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The chicken, however, was extremely dry. The breakfast items such as french toast, eggs, etc. were taken away too early, to be replaced by lunch/dinner items that were already available at three other serving areas. The food quality and service did not live up to the $100 pricetag, before tip, for two people. The tables were too close together. The view was, indeed, as wonderful as everyone has said.

If it has to be special
By shawngpio on 10/14/2006
I wanted somewhere special to take my wife for our anniversary. I had tried different places over the years and none of my selections (Sir Winston’s @ the queen Mary or the sky room) seemed to be what we wanted. I set the reservations for thirty minutes before sunset so that we could eat dinner to the sunset and so that we could see the city lights after sunset. The evening was perfect .The service was impeccable and the food superb. The person who previously wrote that the valet parking was forced is correct but honestly, do you really want to get dressed up and then walk through a dirty parking lot with that special person just to save a five-dollar tip. If you are looking for that one special place and it has to be right then this is the place for you.
