In 1969, artistic craftsmen of Disneyland fame created a romantic rendezvous in the cellar of the old California Hotel. The Cellar is the perfect setting for an intimate and romantic evening of fine dining. Patrons will find themselves enjoying fine French cuisine while comfortably seated in soft velvet-backed chairs upholstered in rich mellow leather and surrounded by a dimly lit interior. Intimate and cozy, the four dining rooms are elegant amid structured arches and cave-like walls, decorated with wine casks and silver lanterns. Culinary excellence abounds with only the finest and freshest foods prepared in a lighter version of classical French cuisine. The Cellar, winner of The Wine Spectator Grand Award, was selected in 1992 as one of the top six restaurants in the world for its outstanding wine list which currently features over 1300 selections from around the world. The Cellar is One of America's 10 Best French Restaurants, and Restaurant of the Year for 2005.

Can't wait to go back!

My girlfriends and I went out for a girls night and decided on The Cellar, what a great choice!!!! Everything was amazing. The service, the food, the wine....EVERYTHING!!!!!! The owner was so friendly and made sure everything was perfect. I mentioned that we wanted a little something out of the way because we may be a little noisy. He gave us this big booth just adjacent to the bar so we could have a great time and not worry about being too loud. It was such a great night, next time we may even just grab a few seats at the bar!! Thanks again!

Amazing.

I frequented The Cellar a few years ago. I recently visited the restaurant again. My only regret is I waited so long to go back!!!! I absolutely love this place. If you want a restaurant where you can take your time and enjoy some great food, great wine, and of course your company, then this is the place to go. The new owner has done a great job keeping the nostalgia of the restaurant and at the same time has really added a sence of warmth. He came to our table and helped us pick out the perfect bottle of wine to go with our meal. What a great night. We'll be back for sure!

Amazing evening

If you are like me, you will read through most of these reviews and try to find a middle ground to in order for you to make your decision about visiting The Cellar. Well, after reading some of the more critical reviews, my general response is: If you want your meal served to you by a 16 year old and be in and out of a dinner in 45 minutes, go to Denny's. If you want a delectably memorable evening that will allow you to relax and forget your troubles, come to The Cellar. I’ve been visiting The Cellar consistently for the past 10 years. I noticed it was a bit wobbly about 4 years back when it switched owners, but that was a mere bump in the road and would not have even been noticeable to most guests. Over the past 4 years, The Cellar has grown, matured, if you will, into nothing less than an enigma. It’s difficult to describe the nostalgia and history that lies within the walls down there and the culinary creations coming from the kitchen appeal to even the most sophisticated palettes. So as I said before, if you are looking for a quick, wacky evening with the gang, I invite you to visit your local Olive Garden or even the ever amusing TGI Friday’s. If you seek an unforgettable (and yes, affordable) dining experience and are willing to invest a couple of hours with your friends and/or family, I can whole-heartedly suggest an evening at The Cellar.
