Rate and Write a Review In business since 1958, this Robinson Street hideaway near the TG Lee factory has an interesting past. Local legend has it that card sharks used to frequent Sportstown Billiards in the '60s and '70s, and that mafia types (In O-town? Who knew!) did some side work melting down contraband silver in the apartment above the pool hall. Ah yes, the bartenders still claim, the Dixie Mafia was born right here. There's not quite that element of danger here these days, however -- unless you're getting schooled by a resident pool shark on one of Sportstown's myriad professional quality tables, that is. The players here know their game, but Sportstown is a good place to for amateurs to get some practice too, with free pool daily from 12PM-4PM. Patrons who don't come to queue up are usually here to watch whatever game is playing -- there's no shortage of big screen TVs, and with more than 100 beer varieties on tap and by the bottle it's a real guy's guy sort of joint. There's pub grub too, including good burgers, wraps, cheesesteaks and Cubans.
