With a Mojito in one hand and an eye on the sunset over Lake Eola, you'll feel whisked away to somewhere other than O-town at the Monkey Bar. Paddle fans churn the air on the second floor balcony, giving this trendy martini lounge tropical appeal. But it's a completely different scene from the Waitiki lounge, located just downstairs (access to the Monkey Bar is via a discreet elevator on the building's facade). Blood red couches, leopard-print chairs and Asian-inspired fashionista artwork set the scene for some serious lounging -- let the stiff drinks do the rest. The martini menu is extensive, with the libations all named after porn stars. If you have a sweet tooth, order the Suzannah French -- a strawberry cheesecake martini served in a frozen, graham cracker-encrusted glass and garnished with fresh berries. The etched glass bar attracts a steady stream of young professionals during weekday happy hours, 4PM-7PM, with $2.50 Red Stripes and $3 glasses of house wine as the lures. Monkey Bar has a maximum capacity of 100 people, which helps it retain the exclusive feel. But if you don't arrive early on weekend nights, be warned -- the line for the elevator up can stretch half way around the block.
