Dancing queens (kings, too) crowd the dance floor Friday nights for the 'Discomania' dance party at this hidden Winter Park bar. Blink and you'll miss the New Phoenix -- a tiny bar with a huge gay following, tucked into a non-descript strip mall on busy Aloma Avenue. Darkly tinted windows keep curious peeping toms at bay, but if you venture inside you're sure to get an eyeful. Resident transvestites Ms. Crystal Vazz and Glitter Alexandria croon for the crowds during the regularly scheduled drag shows. And men turn up in their skivvies for 'Sexual Sundays,' when those in their underwear get drink specials. Thursday night draws a blue-collar crowd, with drink discounts for laborers, mechanics and others dressed in sans-suit work attire. Tuesday nights get packed for karaoke, and it doesn't get any more uninhibited than here, particularly when the unofficial gay anthem, 'It's Raining Men,' makes the play list. And if you're a pool shark, plan your visit for a Monday when the tables are free all night. Bands perform regularly -- it's worth checking the website to see who's playing when.
