Chinese food, it's been said, is as American as apple pie. And as long as you don't require your eggrolls and Moo Goo Gai Pan to be dished up in a Szechuan setting, you'll likely join the long ranks of loyal fans after dining at this popular Asian chain. Forget any images you might have of gelatinous Chinese lunch buffets. With locations in Winter Park Village and the Mall at Millenia, P.F. Chang's is all class. Unusual for a chain (and much appreciated), the atmosphere is romantic and stylish, with dimmed lighting, high ceilings, and stacked-stone walls embellished with trendy reproductions of Tang dynasty artwork and Ming vases. One look around tells you that the lettuce wraps are the far-and-away favorite appetizer -- diners huddle over the tables to dig into the do-it-yourself delicacy of subtly spiced chicken wrapped in a sheath of crispy iceberg. Be sure to specify the spiciness of the dipping sauce, prepared tableside by your server. When it comes to the entrees, you're best off ordering a few to share with your table (portions are large, so ordering one dish less than the number of people present is a good rule to follow). Offerings include all the favorites -- everything from honey chicken, beef and broccoli and Cantonese roasted duck to lemon pepper shrimp, Mu Shu pork, whole fried fish and salt and pepper prawns.
