All contemporary bells and whistles, the decor at this Winter Park sushi joint is dominated by brightly painted walls, brushed aluminum, rainbow swatches of art glass and funky blonde wood furnishings (no Mount Fuji wall murals here). A glassed-in Teppanyaki room with six tables gives fishbowl views out to the main dining room and expansive sushi bar. And there's a large outdoor patio fronting on a quiet side street off Orlando Avenue. Among the specialty sushi rolls on offer is the Mount St. Fire -- a fried California roll topped with spicy diced tuna. If your party can handle it, order the Wazzabi Titanic -- a boatload of sushi filled to bursting with sashimi, spider roll, rainbow roll, dancing eel roll and more. Main course entrees include Chilean sea bass steamed with ginger, soy glazed duck served with seaweed salad and soba noodles and rib-eye steak with teriyaki glaze. Chefs put on a show at the six teppanyaki tables, sending shrimp and veggies airborne and landing them with precision on the sizzling cooktop. While the menu's influences are largely pan-Asian, there's a prosciutto appetizer, oddly enough, and you can even get a side of fries with your sashimi if you so desire. The full bar has sake options galore. For something out of the ordinary, order a coconut margarita. -- Terry Ward

We Never went back....
By Klinger2700 on 06/29/2008
Given all the hype about this restaurant, my husband and I tried it one day. Boy were we dissappointed! The menu lacked variety and the food was bland. Mind you, my husband and I are avid sushi eaters so this is all we ordered. Afterwards, we decided that we would have been better off sticking to our favorite Sushi joint ....Hana Sushi in Altamonte Springs. We never went back to Wazzabi.

Wonderful!

I have been to several different sushi restaurants lately and I have been so dissapointed. Although, I will continue to return to Wazzabi. The atmoshere is hip, fun, and comfortable. The sushi is fantasitic and tastes so fresh. I would rate Wazzabi as one of my top picks for a night of sushi and wine/sake. Yum!!

It's okay...and there's much better down the street...
By C5522 on 05/30/2008
We went here a couple of weeks ago after saying for over 2 years we wanted to try it. We ordered a spicy tuna roll and a soup as appetizers. Before they came...our main courses came.... I think we had the only Japanese person in the restaurant waiting on us and he barely spoke english. As for the main course...I had a sushi roll...it was good, but not memorable. My fiancee had the tempura shrimp...which consisted of 3 SHRIMP...it had slabs of tempura sweet potato, asparagus, broccolli and carrots. The food was waaaay too overpriced for what it amounted to. Try Kata Thai down the street instead - wonderful food (sushi and thai) and beautiful settings, inside and out in the garden!

Eat at the Bar

Went in when it was open for about a month. Service was good, not overbearing, and knowledable. Many differant rolls and some very good sushi. The portions are the largest I've ever seen, and fish quality is the best. The green ice tea is weak but it's free and it goes down well. On a whole I found it very creative and a quality restaurant. It has become my favorite sushi place.
