When the Globe slid into the spot vacated by O-town's favorite alterna-hangout (Go Lounge), the restaurant/bar was simply destined for coolness. Open till 11PM every night, Wall Street Plaza's cornerstone restaurant ups the late-night munchies ante for partiers making the downtown bar circuit. But the Globe's menu is good enough to warrant daytime indulgences, too. The affordable offerings (most menu items are priced under $10) boast international flair, with everything from sushi and wok favorites to Roma-style pizza and Cuban and Cajun dishes rounding out the diverse selections. The Crab Rangoon is a good starter for sharing -- light wonton skins, fried till golden, stuffed with crabmeat and cream cheese. Popular entrees include the noodle bowls (try the Fu Man Chu, studded with spicy curry chicken), ahi tuna salad and Cajun grilled tenderloin tips. For dessert, go patriotic with an all-American favorite -- the S'mores come with the requisite graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows, as well as your own personal flame over which to roast them. Did we mention the Sunday brunch? The Globe puts on one of the best gigs in O-town, with an indulgent Bloody Mary bar, $2.50 flavored mimosas and live music on the sunny patio. The weekday happy hour sushi specials are another prime lure, with $2 rolls from 5PM-7PM and bargains on Kirin beer to complement the Japanese theme. Just don't come looking for a quiet dining experience. The restaurant doubles as a bar at night, and if there's not a live band blasting within you're sure to hear ambient sounds from Wall Street's surrounding nightclubs.

Broken glass in my martini....
By goddess342 on 02/11/2007
I used to be a regular at the Globe, but a few weeks ago, I was drinking a watermelon martini, and there was a dime-size piece of broken glass sitting at the bottom of my martini glass. I was in shock! I could not believe that i almost swallowed a broken piece of glass, and that they actually served me a martini in that glass. I will NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN! Makes me sick to think about what could have happened to me if I were to have swallowed that piece of glass.

Great local music and great food! Even if a lot of the bands sound the same, it is a good place to hang out and get the feel of what is out there right now.
