If you know a little about Palm Springs, you may have heard of a neighborhood referred to as the Tennis Club area. The Palm Springs Tennis Club and Resort is the source of that reference; it is generally considered to be one of the finest tennis clubs in the world. Both the hotel and the tennis courts are rather posh. The resort's condo- type units feature kitchens and sleep up to six people comfortably. With eleven courts, it's hard to imagine having to wait your turn to play; on very busy weekends, however, that can sometimes be the case. After you do play, you can jump into one of three pools for an after-match swim and then relax your well-exercised muscles in one of four whirlpool spas. Since space is somewhat limited, there is no parking permitted for campers, motor homes or boat trailers. -- Denise Fondo
